Agents wired to the PIM to produce technical product sheets at scale for Design

Thousands of construction material references, each with its own sheet. Every generated text is checked against the manufacturer specification before it reaches production.

The challenge

Design sells a broad catalog of construction materials. Every reference needs a sheet explaining specifications, attributes and standards.

Producing sheets at scale is easy. Producing them at scale without a single one saying something the manufacturer does not say is the real problem, and it decides whether the automation is useful or a liability.

In construction materials, technical data is not decoration.

  • Volume nobody writes by hand: thousands of references, each with its sheet.
  • Non negotiable technical rigor: a wrong measurement, rating or standard turns into a return or worse.
  • Hallucination risk: a model that cannot find an attribute tends to fill it in, and an invented attribute looks just as polished as a correct one.
  • Visibility on two fronts: traditional search and engines that cite rather than list.

Scale without control is not productivity: it is one error multiplied by the size of the catalog.

The solution

We wired the writing agents directly to the PIM, so the text comes not from what the model remembers but from what the product system declares.

Direct PIM integration

  • Structured extraction of technical specifications, attributes and product standards.
  • The product repository is the source, and the agent has no other.

Specialized technical writing

  • Technical content agents working from standardized style guidelines.
  • Optimized for organic visibility in traditional search and in generative engines.
  • Each sheet keeps the technical register of the trade instead of adopting a commercial tone that does not fit it.

The gates, which are the center of this case

  • Cross verification between agents: every generated sheet is checked against the manufacturer technical specification.
  • The control stops hallucinations, inconsistencies with standards and incomplete attributes before they reach production.
  • Whoever writes is not whoever approves, the same principle by which quality control is independent of the producing team.

Monitoring and benchmarking

  • Systematic analysis of attribute coverage against competitors.
  • Automatic updates when the catalog changes, so the sheet does not age against the product.

Architecture and technology

  • Writing agents integrated against the corporate PIM, with style guidelines and organic optimization.
  • Cross validation gates that check against the manufacturer sheet before syncing.

How generative AI is integrated and governed

  • The solution integrates generative artificial intelligence services: language models that write, converse, extract and structure inside the workflow, rather than a rules engine with prewritten answers.
  • Consumption is measured and billed in tokens, separating input, output and cache write and read, which are different line items with different prices and are accounted for separately.
  • Telemetry attributes consumption per agent and per client, so the token budget is bounded and controlled per project instead of being read as a single invoice.
  • Limits live in the record, not in the model: a record declares roles and caps, and which provider each role maps to is configuration that changes without touching the agent.
  • The architecture is multi provider: the provider is fixed per agent and per session, never per request, and automatic retry against a different provider is deliberately switched off. If the provider fails, the agent stops and says so instead of silently continuing on another one.
  • Context caching is the main cost lever, because rereading context accounts for most of the token volume in any agent operation. Sustaining the cache is what keeps the same task from costing several times more.
  • And the minimum context window is declared per agent: a provider that does not cover it is ruled out by architecture, not by price.

The result

The catalog gained production scale without loosening technical rigor, because the control sits before publication rather than after.

What is running

  • Writing agents integrated against the PIM of a catalog of thousands of references, with the manufacturer specification as the only source.
  • Technical sheets produced at scale from standardized style guidelines.
  • Cross validation gates that stop hallucinations and incomplete attributes before production.
  • Attribute coverage monitored against competitors.
  • Automatic updates when the catalog changes.

What changes in the operation

  • The sheet stops depending on someone having time to write it.
  • And it stops depending on that person remembering the right specification, because the check is automatic.

Why it matters

  • In a technical catalog, automation is judged not by how much it produces but by how much it stops.
  • A system that generates a thousand sheets and publishes ten wrong ones is worse than one that generates a hundred.
