The challenge

Tu Casa en Cuotas is the Grupo ZAG brand selling units through payment plans. Its customer does not buy and leave: they live with the brand for years, paying installment after installment.

In a product paid month after month, the difference between a subscription that advances and one that lapses usually comes down to the right reminder at the right moment.

And that moment is set by the customer's behavior, not by the company calendar.

  • No channel on the phone: the journey lived on the web, which is not where the customer spends the day.
  • Calendar based notices: a scheduled send cannot tell apart someone about to miss a payment from someone who abandoned a purchase halfway.
  • No incentive to advance: nothing rewarded the customer who paid ahead or recommended the brand.

The cost does not show as a lost sale but as delinquency, which over a multi year plan decides whether the business works.

The solution

We built both mobile apps mirroring the web channel, and on top of that the layer the web did not have: behavior triggered messaging and a tier scheme.

The work was not porting an interface but adding the mechanism that sustains a relationship measured in years.

The apps and their admin

  • Android and iOS applications mirroring the web channel, published in their stores.
  • Web administrator and API with documentation and a test collection.

Messaging triggered by behavior

  • Mobile and web push notifications, plus a mail server on the company's own domain.
  • Templates covering the full journey, from welcome and subscription confirmation to upcoming payment notices and early payoff.
  • Triggers for abandoned purchases, time without logging in and overdue installments.

Gamification and referrals

  • Tier scheme rewarding the customer according to their progress through the plan.
  • Friend invitation mechanic, serving organic growth and tier progression at once.

Architecture and technology

  • Native iOS and Android apps, web administrator and documented API.
  • Mobile and web push, and transactional email on the company's own domain.

The result

The brand moved from a web channel with scheduled notices to a mobile channel that reacts to what the customer does.

Starting point

  • Customer journey available on the web only.
  • Calendar based communication, blind to the customer's situation.
  • No incentive to advance or to recommend.

Strategic impact

  • Three behavior triggers address the three usual causes of lapse: due dates, abandonment and disengagement.
  • The tier scheme makes plan progress visible to the customer.
  • Friend invitations serve two goals with one mechanic.
  • Delivered with source code, data model and documentation rather than as a black box.
