The challenge

La Holando Sudamericana sells through brokers. In group life, every quote a broker needed went through the insurer's technical area.

When a repetitive operation must pass through the technical area, the bottleneck is not the calculation: it is the queue, and the broker loses the sale while waiting.

  • Waiting time: the broker quoted two days after the meeting with their client, not during it.
  • Operational load: the technical area spent hours on quotes that always follow the same rules.
  • Control of the calculation: decentralizing without giving up the rating rules was the condition any solution had to meet.

The cost was twofold: sales cooling off from delay, and a technical team busy with the routine instead of the exceptional.

The solution

We delivered the quoting tool front end turnkey, moving the ability to quote to the broker without moving the company's calculation rules.

The architectural decision is what holds everything else up: the business logic stays where it was.

A full quote in one place

  • Capture of the minimum data needed to price: policyholder, contract term and agreed commercial conditions.
  • Product, risk data and the set of coverages the company offers for the line.
  • Resolution of technical premium, commercial premium and the resulting total with taxes.

Online issuance, without leaving

  • Extension of the approved quote data to the full set the company requires to issue.
  • The broker closes the circuit without returning to the technical area.

The rules stay with the company

  • Business logic and rating variables remain in the insurer's services, and the tool consumes them.
  • A change in rates or conditions is reflected without touching the front end.

Architecture and technology

  • Decoupled front end consuming the company's rating services.
  • Iterative delivery with agreed dates, effort, prerequisites and commitments from each side.

The result

The broker went from requesting a quote to producing one, and the company did not give up a single rating rule.

Starting point

  • Every group life quote went through the insurer's technical area.
  • Waiting time between the broker's request and the answer.
  • Issuance as a second, separate procedure.

Strategic impact

  • The broker quotes and issues while the client is in front of them.
  • The technical area is freed from the routine to handle the exceptional.
  • Rating rules stay centralized: changing them does not require touching the tool.
  • Decentralization happened without giving up control, which was the project's condition.
