The challenge

Sanofi runs a set of health sites and digital channels for the Southern Cone built on Magnolia, the laboratory corporate CMS, with business teams across different franchises and countries.

In healthcare content does not publish when it is ready: it publishes once it clears medical legal review, and that turns every change into a process with stages you cannot skip.

And three constraints act on every piece at once.

  • Global design system: what gets built locally has to respect the company standard.
  • Regulation by audience: information for patients and information for professionals licensed to prescribe follow different rules.
  • Several owners: franchises and countries with their own business teams on the same platform.

That framework is not an obstacle to the project: it is the project.

The solution

Several fronts were sustained within that framework, with sprint based delivery and daily incident tracking alongside the laboratory team.

The design and development team trained and certified on the platform to build and maintain the sites.

Vaxintour, in two countries

  • Redesign of the traveler vaccination site in its Argentine and Chilean versions.
  • New look and feel, simplified navigation, reorganized cards and tabs: in Argentina vaccines grouped by destination, in Chile a new country section design.
  • Vaccination center map and measurement configured for both sites' KPIs.

Rare disease portals

  • Second stage of Juntos por Fabry, the professional portal, with registration and access, medical education video and a redesigned home built on platform components.
  • Information architecture and sitemaps for two unbranded portals on atopic dermatitis and asthma.

Communication with the medical community

  • Comunidad Sanofi newsletters for professionals treating diabetes patients, segmented by country and franchise across Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.
  • Scientific evidence and congress summaries, World Diabetes Day content and expert videos.
  • The late 2021 cycle closed with the launch of DiabeCast, the community podcast.

Architecture and technology

  • Magnolia as corporate CMS, with the components of the laboratory global design system.
  • Team certified on the platform, with sprint based delivery.

The result

The sites evolved within the regulatory framework, without medical legal review slowing the delivery pace.

Starting point

  • Sites and channels coexisting with business teams across different franchises and countries.
  • Every piece subject to the global design system and to medical legal review.

Results

  • Vaxintour redesigned in Argentina and Chile, with measurement configured.
  • Second stage of the Juntos por Fabry portal implemented, with registration and medical education video.
  • Information architecture for two unbranded portals on atopic dermatitis and asthma.
  • Newsletters for diabetes professionals segmented across four countries.
  • DiabeCast podcast launched in December 2021 and the team certified on the platform.

Strategic impact

  • Working in sprints with daily tracking is what makes coexisting with a review you cannot rush possible.
  • Certifying the team on the platform keeps every piece from depending on a technical intermediary.
