The challenge

Navent is the group behind employment and real estate classifieds portals like Bumeran, ZonaJobs, Laborum, ZonaProp, Imovelweb and Inmuebles24. It grew through acquisitions across eight countries in the region.

A group formed by buying brands has the opposite problem of a company that expands: every piece is already known on its own, and what does not exist is the story that ties them together.

And that story had to work for very different audiences.

  • Four audiences: investors, press, clients and candidates look for different things on a corporate site.
  • Three languages: Spanish, English and Portuguese, given the group regional reach.
  • Two verticals and eight countries: the portfolio had to be ordered by business and by market at once.

Without that order, the group reads as a list of brands rather than a company.

The solution

We organized the group story, its portfolio by vertical and country, its leadership team and its press room on one site, on a platform the team itself could update.

The project ran end to end between July and December 2016.

Six sections with a reading order

  • Home with the classifieds leadership message and the group purpose: helping people find a job and a home.
  • Institutional section with Navent in numbers and its history timeline.
  • Portfolio split into employment and real estate, with a card per brand, its countries and the link to each portal.
  • Regional leadership directory, press room by category, and careers with access to each country's openings.

Design iterated with the client

  • Built on the group corporate identity and reviewed in successive rounds with the communications team.
  • From the first July version to the final September one, with adjustments to contrast, typographic hierarchy and header photo framing.

Trilingual and manageable

  • An independent install per language, with team, press and company sections as manageable content.
  • Responsive design optimized for phones and laptops.
  • Server setup manual for the client and tutorials for loading press notes and maintaining cross language links.

Architecture and technology

  • WordPress with an independent install per language.
  • Live since January 2017.

The result

The group went from being a set of known brands to having a place where it explains itself as a company.

Starting point

  • Group formed through acquisitions, with no site presenting it as one.
  • Brands known separately and with no shared narrative.

Results

  • Site in 3 languages, with a manageable install per language.
  • Portfolio of 17 brands presented across 2 verticals, employment and real estate.
  • 8 countries represented and 6 sections, from home to careers.
  • Delivered with a server setup manual and tutorials for the client to manage the site.
  • Live since January 2017.

Strategic impact

  • One install per language keeps one market's content from depending on another's.
  • The cross language link tutorials address the exact point where a multilingual site drifts out of sync.
