The challenge

BeBlackFIT is a gym chain in Buenos Aires. Its business was in person and it wanted to extend it into a digital channel of its own, not an account on someone else's platform.

A digital training channel is not a site with videos: it is a product with a full cycle, and if any piece is missing the user drops off before training.

  • Signup friction: a long registration loses the user who arrived willing to try.
  • Two paying audiences: demand is local and international, and a single gateway leaves one of them out.
  • No administration: without a backoffice, every signup, payment and new piece of content depends on someone technical.

And training content is not a catalog: it is a plan the member has to be able to follow and check off.

The solution

We built the two pieces the product needs, the member application and the business administrator, with the integrations that remove friction from signup and payment.

The routine was modeled as a plan rather than a video list, which is what makes progress trackable.

The member application

  • Registration and login, with Google and Facebook sign in to reduce signup friction.
  • Plan purchase and display, and editing of the member's own data.
  • Routine tracking with the option to mark each workout as completed.

Content as a plan

  • Day by day routines over a video catalog structured in five day cycles.
  • Each exercise with its warm up, movement description and execution guidance in repetitions.

Payments, communication and administration

  • Two payment gateways covering local and international audiences, with payment status visible to the user and the administration.
  • Transactional email on the company's own domain, and the messaging and chat channels the business already used.
  • Backoffice with payment management, content administration and control of user access to purchased routines.

Architecture and technology

  • Member WebApp and administration backoffice, with a custom video hosting and playback scheme.
  • Two payment gateways, social authentication and transactional email on the company's own domain.

The result

The gym went from an in person business to running a digital product with its own subscription, payments and content.

Starting point

  • An exclusively in person business, with no digital channel of its own.
  • No way to charge online or administer content without technical intervention.

Strategic impact

  • The full cycle happens inside the product: registration, purchase, payment, training and progress.
  • Two gateways cover local and international audiences without leaving either out.
  • The backoffice puts daily operations in the hands of the business.
  • Social sign in removes the signup friction that loses the most users.
  • Modeling the routine as a plan rather than a video list is what makes progress measurable.
